Income Tax E-Filing services to be stopped from 1st of June to 6th of June 2021 as CBDT launches new E-Filing portal.

Income Tax E-Filing services to be stopped from 1st of June to 6th of June 2021 as CBDT launches new E-Filing portal.

The Directorate of Income Tax system has notified all fields in units that the existing portal of the Income Tax Department www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in will be replaced by a new E-Filing portal from 7th of June 2021. Therefore, for preparation and migration activities to the new system, the E-Filing services will not be available for taxpayers and departmental officers for a period of 6 days i.e, from 1st of June 2021 to 6th of June 2021

The existing portal is being used as a platform for officers and taxpayers for appeal, principal commissioner to interact with the taxpayers via e-proceedings, to issue notices, getting a response and to file Income Tax Return, and to view other details.

It is also requested to inform the notice to all the respective authorities instantly so that they will not fix any compliance dates during this particular period when the portal will not be available. In the preparation for the transition to the new portal, officers have been asked to schedule hearings and compliances after the 10th of June 2021, in order to give time for the taxpayers to adjust. Simultaneously, pre-scheduled hearings or compliances which require submissions online will be preponed, adjourned, or rescheduled. On that account, all the officers are encouraged to complete urgent tasks which involve interaction with the taxpayers to avoid a blackout period or issues in transition.

It is clarified that the IBTA system and CPC system will continue to function for assessment-related activities. However, the notices and orders made during the period will be made available to the taxpayers only on or after the 7th of June 2021. Nevertheless, the officers can view or download any submission in the e-proceedings prior to 1st of June 2021 and the PDFs of Income Tax Returns (ITR) and non-ITR Forms that may be needed by them in advance so that they can continue their work on the IBTA System where interaction with the taxpayers will not be necessary to proceed further.
